DRAFT PREVIEW - DC Workbook - Task 3 - Summary

water quality monitoring

Even though it’s human-made, the Delaware Canal is nevertheless a naturalized aquatic ecosystem – and the 40,000 acre watershed it collects is Buck County’s third largest. Yet there has never been a water quality assessment of the canal.

This project brought together 11 experienced regional water stewards to develop a framework for data monitoring that can help DCNR maintain water quality that is essential to the health, aesthetics, and sustainability of the 23 bodies of water that make up the canal.

The plan includes a system for managing a volunteer program for data collection, and identification of 7 monitoring sites.
